A blow-up criterion in terms of the density for compressible viscous flows
We study an initial boundary value problem for the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations of compressible fluids in the unit square domain. We establish a blow-up criterion for the local strong solutions in terms of the density only. Namely, if the density is away from vacuum (ρ = 0) and the concentration of mass (ρ = ∞), then a local strong solution can be continued globally in time.
متن کاملMathematical theory of compressible, viscous, and heat conducting fluids
We review some recent results on the Navier–Stokes–Fourier system governing the evolution of a general compressible, viscous, and heat conducting fluid. We discuss several concepts of weak solutions, in particular, using the implications of the Second law of thermodynamics. We introduce the concept of relative entropy and dissipative solution and show the principle of weak-strong uniqueness. We...
متن کاملHeat Convection of Compressible Viscous Fluids. I
The stationary problem for the heat convection of compressible fluid is considered around the equilibrium solution with the external forces in the horizontal strip domain z0 < z < z0 + 1 and it is proved that the solution exists uniformly with respect to z0 ≥ Z0 . The limit system as z0 → +∞ is the Oberbeck-Boussinesq equations. Mathematics Subject Classification (2010). Primary 35Q35; Secondar...
متن کاملStabilization for equations of one-dimensional viscous compressible heat-conducting media with nonmonotone equation of state
We consider the Navier-Stokes system describing motions of viscous compressible heat-conducting and “self-gravitating” media. We use the state function of the form p(η, θ) = p0(η) + p1(η)θ linear with respect to the temperature θ, but we admit rather general nonmonotone functions p0 and p1 of η, which allows us to treat various physical models of nuclear fluids (for which p and η are the pressu...
متن کاملBoundary Layers for the Navier-Stokes Equations of Compressible Heat-Conducting Flows with Cylindrical Symmetry
We consider the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous compressible heat-conducting fluids with cylindrical symmetry. Our main purpose is to study the boundary layer effect and convergence rates as the shear viscosity μ goes to zero. We show that the boundary layer thickness and a convergence rate are of order O(μ) with 0 < α < 1/2 and O( √ μ) respectively, thus extending the result for isentropic...
